The One Room Challenge Reveal

Get inspired from amazing One Room Challenge results to see how Progress Lighting’s collaborations led to aspirational room transformations.

One Room Challenge Reveal

Have you ever needed motivation to finish a home renovation project? Linda Weinstein, the brains behind the hit One Room Challenge® interior design event, did. In 2011, with the desire to finally finish ONE room in her home, Linda had the idea to motivate herself and a small group of online friends by setting up a challenge to work alongside one another. She titled the event One Room Challenge®, as it was evident that staying focused on one room, from start to finish, was indeed a challenge.

With the help of sponsors like Progress Lighting, the event has grown into a twice-yearly event. The challenge brings together designers, bloggers, and home decor enthusiasts to transform a room in just eight weeks. Participants select a room in their home that needs a makeover and document the entire process on their blogs or social media platforms. They share weekly updates, including the design plans, progress, and any challenges they encounter. The event is not a competition but a collaborative and supportive community where participants can share ideas, inspiration, and encouragement.

Here are a few projects we partnered with influencers on to provide lighting or fans during the October 2023 One Room Challenge.

Prepford Wife & School House Lighting

Meet Victoria Ford, who owns the blog and Instagram account Prepford Wife. She ambitiously renovated an entire home for her mother during the October Challenge, and Progress helped by donating three school house pendants for the kitchen. “I warmed up the space with brass finishes with the School House from Progress Lighting. They feel so elegant and take up less visual space than the previous lighting. These pendants feel so warm at night and give much-needed ambiance lighting.

From Walls to Home & The Semi-Flush Mount Light

This is the first time Zuleiska Walls @fromwallstohome has taken part in the One Room Challenge. Zuleiska is a DIYer and crafter, and her project was a makeover of the foyer and closet area of her Florida home. "After all the building and painting, it's the time to add all the final touches to the foyer, making it all come together, like this beautiful chandelier from Progress Lighting," she said in a recent Instagram post. "This is the Mariposa Five Light Semi Flush Pendant, perfect for any ceiling height as it comes with multiple hanging options and various sizes and colors. For this space, I chose the Antique Gold finish. From the packaging to the easy installation with step-by-step instructions, the provided hardware and fixture quality, this fixture swap out was easy!"

Raymin Reyes, @simplypetiteray on Instagram, is a dynamic content creator and influencer based in Northern California. She is not only passionate about design; her mission is to uplift and engage my audience through relatable experiences as a mom, a wife, and a blogger. Her One Room Challenge project was a renovation of her dining room. "We are super thrilled to work with @progressltg to transform our dining room with these amazing Spicewood Gilded Iron Chandelier,” said Raymin. "This lighting has added so much style to our space, and we are so thrilled about how it came out so pretty and chic! This chandelier truly transformed our dining room into a stylish home."

Sammie Ernisse, @ahomewithastory turned a "catch-all" space into a functional and beautiful Butler's Pantry with a gift wrapping station, too. Sammie says, “You can’t redesign an entire room and not include a brand new, jaw-dropping light fixture!  Say hello to Laila, the prettiest light I’ve ever seen! Her hand-knotted jute strands are intricately woven to create the most beautiful shadows that splash on all surfaces in this space. The warmth from the ambient lighting and the texture of the fixture elevate this room more than I ever imagined.  A big thank you to @progressltg for partnering on this remodel with me! This light fixture is exactly what this space needed!”

Congratulations to all the designers and influencers who completed the October One Room Challenge!
