Just about a year ago, Progress Lighting launched the Point Dume™ Collection, our first ever guest collaboration, with California interior designer Jeffrey Alan Marks. The collection taps into Jeffrey's design vision and his sense of what the market lacked and brought Jeffrey's unique touch into well-crafted, artful lighting designs.
Once Point Dume™ was released, talented interior designers, builders and design influencers embraced it with a level of excitement that matched our own. Here are some beautiful interiors where Point Dume™ lighting found its way into a celebration of design and creativity out in the field.
Surfrider, an oversized pendant with layers of metal curves inspired by lapping waves, is one of the design community's top choices as it works well across a variety of room styles.
Stephen Alexander Homes, always a fan of Progress Lighting designs, upped their game in their new Waterleigh model home in Moyock, NC, when they installed two large Surfrider pendants over the kitchen island. "These Surfrider pendants are so stunning in person that they sold a home today," said Stephen Quick. The Galvanized-finished pendants with their tiers of wave-like metal bands over the shiplap-clad island perfectly complement the Coastal design of the home.
Ally Calder, an Instagram influencer and blogger, agrees with Stephen. Ally is a big fan of the Coastal design style, and she gravitated towards the Point Dume™ Collection for her family's Santa Rosa Beach, Florida home. "This lighting has a surf feel, perfect for a coastal home, and I love the California vibe of the collection," said Ally. The Surfrider pendant hanging over her dining area fits beautifully with the cool pastel tones of the interior, as its Maliblue finish and clean lines flow with the soothing colors of the room.
Doris Pearlman, interior designer and founder of Possibilities For Design, based in Denver, CO. took the Surfrider pendant in a totally different direction. Although she also installed a pair of Surfrider pendants over an island, the vibe of the room is decidedly Modern Farmhouse. The island is paneled with rustic wood and topped with a clean white waterfall edge. The room repeats the wood detailing on the feature wall and punctuates it with dark timber shelving. Surfrider, with its modern industrial edge is the perfect foil to the rustic touches of the room's Farmhouse style, elevating it to a fresh, contemporary look.
Lifestyle blogger Merrick White chose pieces from the Point Dume™ Collection for her newly built Texas house. The back staircase, while often overlooked in a home, was a detail Merrick fell in love with as the homebuilding progressed. She transformed the blank wall into a gallery in which the
Sandbar wall sconce became a part of the art itself. The opulent Brushed Brass finish delivers a pop of brightness against the monotone palette of the black-and-white photographs on the wall and the dark stair finish of the staircase treads, handrails, and newel posts.
