A Guide to Semi-Flush Convertible Lights

Do you know what a semi-flush convertible light is, and where to use it? Here is Progress Lighting’s guide to Semi-Flush Convertible fixtures.

What Is a Semi-Flush Convertible Fixture?

Semi-flush convertible fixtures are versatile lights that can be installed either as a semi-flush mount or as a pendant, bringing versatile style to many rooms of the home. These fixtures include both chain and stem so their hanging height can be customized as desired.

Semi-Flush Convertible Light mount-types

A semi-flush mount fixture is suspended from the ceiling, leaving a small gap between the ceiling and the fixture. This gap allows for an uplit effect while also providing direct downward light. These ceiling fixtures produce a better ambient light effect than flush mount fixtures and are ideal for foyers, hallways and bedrooms. They are suitable for rooms with a low ceiling where illumination is needed but where there may not be room for a longer hanging fixture, such as hallways, bedrooms, living rooms or any space that would benefit from a captivating play of light.

Easy Conversion to a Pendant Light

Semi-flush mount convertibles can easily be converted into a pendant with the included chain and stem pieces, becoming a nicely oversized light that can be installed over kitchen islands, dining tables and in foyers.

Customize the hanging height of the fixture to the space using the chain and stem pieces. Keep 30 to 36 inches of space between the countertop or table and the bottom of the luminaire. The fixture's base should measure at least seven feet from the floor if installing the convertible pendant in a foyer.

Also from the Jeffrey Alan Marks Point Dume™ Collection is the Sequit Point semi-flush convertible luminaire. With all the romance, mystery and architectural presence of a lighthouse, the Sequit Point Collection glows in the same way lighthouse beacons used strips of glass to focus light and safeguard the rugged coastline. Mercury glass sleeves stand in tandem with clear glass rods, trimmed with Antique Nickel bands top and bottom. Sleek antique nickel hardware is used to convert the fixture from a semi-flush ceiling light to a hanging pendant and vice-versa.
