Progress Lighting describes new 2022 interior design trends for the home, furniture and lighting.
It's 2022, and now is the time to ring in the new year with new design trends for the home. Whether you are thinking about renovating your present home or dreaming of a new build, we highlight a few of the latest, must-have style trends in furniture and lighting.
Sculptural Forms
Sculptural shapes featuring carved, geometric, and linear detailing combine to bring a sense of stability into modern designs. Taking its inspiration from natural materials like carved stone and abstract shapes, sculptural furniture and lighting elevate a room with a touch of classic sophistication. A great example of this is the Jeffrey Alan Marks Point Dume™ Exterior Shadmore Pendant. Interconnected geometric cubes form a spacious frame around an elegant, marbleized acrylic shade. This outdoor fixture creates a striking focal point while delivering an inviting, warm glow.
Other sculptural lighting options feature metallic elements combined with white opal globes for a warm glow. Our new-for-2022 Delayne pendant showcases this with a softly curved fitted metal framework encasing an opal glass globe. The pendant offers a refined mid-century design enhanced by gently diffused light that creates an ambient glow.
Minimal Forms with Texture
A new minimalist direction takes the typical "less is more" mindset and turns it on end by adding texture to clean lines and open, airy spaces. Natural materials and fabrics bring visual interest and a soothing tactile appeal. The use of multifunctional furniture and minimal decor highlights a room's statement pieces and architectural details.
Our Saffert collection uses a stoic beam-style frame with a substantial scale and a clean, bold form. Crisp glass shades give the fixtures a modern urban style. Going in a slightly different direction, the Saffert pendant combines modern and traditional elements. Four slender rods capture a circular metal frame and glass diffuser, while a tactile fabric shade softens the clean style of the pendant.
Curvy Retro
The increased focus on the stay-at-home time that emerged from the pandemic brings furniture and lighting that builds on a theme of comfort. Curved and rounded sofas and chairs with a comfy, sink-into feeling will dominate living spaces in 2022. This coziness harmonizes well with sleek retro metal finishes like polished chrome, glossy white and stainless steel. A substantial metal-toned pendant like Parkhurst balances curved, sinuous shapes in furniture. Parkhurst features a solid, crisp metal shade suspended by an elegant ring. Light gleams softly from the metallic finished interior, casting a soft glow on the surfaces below.
Or go for an ultra-retro look with the mid-century modern Inverse LED pendant. Airy cables suspend its circular halo frame for an ethereal appearance. Indirect illumination from an integrated LED light source creates an inner glow that gently lights the surroundings.
