AD101 and AD102 Mine Phone End of Life Advisory Use of A103 on ST/1 System Advisory

Important advisory on AD101 and AD102 mine phones' end of life. Explore the safe integration of A103 on ST/1 systems and available upgrade solutions.

The IS Telephones AD101 and AD102 have been in service for 38 years and from March 2017 Austdac will no longer be able to repair these due to the parts no longer being available.

The Austdac Intrinsically Safe Telephone System ST/1 was certified in 1978 under MDA Exi.0373 which includes the IS Telephones AD100, AD101 and AD102.

The Austdac Telephone System ST2 was certified in 2012 under IECEx ITA 12.0006X which includes the Telephone A103.

Both the ST/1 and ST2 certificates are system certificates and as such preclude the use of alternative items. However entity parameters are listed for various items of both the ST/l and ST2 systems.

Austdac is aware that Telephone A103 has been used as a replacement for the AD101 and AD102. Austdac has reviewed the use of an A103 as a replacement for the AD101 and AD102 using their entity parameters and found that the A103 could be used safely on a ST/1 system, however this would not be accordance with certificate MDA Exi.0373.

Austdac recommend that customers with a ST/l system ensure that only AD100, AD101 and AD102 are used on their system. The Telephone A103 should only be used on a ST2 system. Austdac has some limited stock of the AD101 and AD102 to assist customers and can also provide information on upgrading to the ST2 system.

If you have any questions regarding this please contact either Mark Go1dsworthy or Andrew Watters or contact our Austdac Customer Service.
