Proclaimed by her Instagram fans as The Queen of Painting Everything, Tracey Amadio, aka Porch Daydreamer, has worked her magic again- this time on a bathroom project that she totally transformed with paint.
"This was a $400 bathroom paint makeover. When I say I painted everything in my bathroom, I did," said Tracey.
Everything was painted, from cabinets to the granite countertop and the large format ceramic shower tiles, saving thousands of dollars in renovation costs.
The original décor bathroom was beige. Tracey wanted it light and bright, with white walls, a slab-style shower, and a black marble vanity countertop for an elegant accent. She chose a patterned, peel and stick tile for the floor- the only surface in the room that was not repainted.
And, with the magic of paint and Tracey's expertise, she was able to create her desired outcome. Tracey worked for a major paint manufacturer for five years and has an ACT (Architectural Coating Technologist) certification. So not only does she know how to paint, but she knows the science behind it.
To create the faux, honed marble effect on the granite vanity top, Tracey painted it a solid color, applied glazes over the top and sealed it with many layers of a clear coat covering. She spray painted the vanity itself a serene light blue.
"To break up all the white, I chose Art Nouveau-inspired wall art and pulled colors from it for the vanity and towels to add a pop of color," she said.
Tracey then accented the vanity area with accessories and hardware finished in polished chrome, creating an upscale, sleek style. The Glance 3-light vanity light she chose from Progress Lighting adds sophistication and a modern edge. The light fixture's elegant etched white shades complement the overall light and bright aesthetic.
But the most stunning transformation was the shower, inspired by Carrara marble. "I wanted to make a bold statement and incorporate the trend of book-matched large slabs of marble. To say I used ALL my painting skills to paint the shower is an understatement," said Tracey.
To recreate this look, Tracey first filled in all the caulk lines on the original tile. Then, she painted the shower white. After letting the paint set for a month, while practicing her veining technique, she went to work doing the faux marble veining.
"I'm so proud of how it turned out and that it looks just like the inspiration piece from my mood board,” said Tracey."
As a successful Instagram influencer, Porch Daydreamer, Tracey has recently expanded her business to include paint classes, teaching her techniques so that anyone can inexpensively update their home with paint.
"My classes build your confidence so you can paint like a pro," says Tracey on her paint class website. Discover her many class options, including how-to's on painting faux marble, furniture, applying glazes and more here.
