Empowering Renewable Energy Projects with a Comprehensive Strategy

Energy experts project that solar energy could provide 45% of the electricity in the United States by 2050. According to the Department of Energy, wind power is poised for rapid growth, accounting for 22% of new electricity capacity in 2022.

During this ambitious transition, companies with vision need to step up. The challenges? Ensuring reliability, scalability, and integration into the existing infrastructure.

Many companies sell products to build facilities for the renewables market. But Hubbell is alone in the strength of our vertical, integrated approach to solar, wind, and battery storage installations.

Broad (and growing) balance of systems solutions

Hubbell’s strength is its leadership in meeting the electrical balance of systems (eBOS) requirements companies in the renewables market, which describes everything that connects, delivers, supports, and energizes power, other than the main systems components.

Hubbell offers the largest selection of connectors, wire management, cabinets, combiner boxes and disconnects for utility scale solar farm projects. The result – your sourcing is easier.

How we support customers

As a company, we not only offer the eBOS products and solutions that its core customers – EPCs focusing on projects 50 megawatts or more – depend on to engineer, procure, and construct utility-scale projects. We also maximize the effectiveness of installations by offering:

Product differentiation

We are committed to product design that meets the specific reliability, safety, and installation efficiency requirements of the renewables market. For example, we recently released an industry-first insulation piercing compression connector specifically designed for the solar market,

Customer Collaboration

Our team collaborates with installation contractors on-site to design the best eBOS system for renewables, showcasing our commitment to tailoring our solutions to meet custom requirements.

Engineering Support

Our engineers and product specialists work closely with customers to develop innovative solutions, reflecting Hubbell's proactive approach to innovation and customer service.

A true vertical energy solution

We’ve worked in the solar market for years, but we’ve expanded our portfolio with a wide range of eBOS solutions for wind and battery storage as well as solar.

And now we’re bringing in the full strength of Hubbell’s many quality brands to serve the renewables market, with industry experts in the field dedicated to this market. All of this results in a better experience for busy installers.

Real-life example: the golden row

Here’s an example of how we bring solutions to life. Since all solar farms are a little bit different, building them isn’t a cookie-cutter process. The first step when building out a solar farm is configuring the so-called golden row, the first row of solar panels, to optimize the connectors and other parts.

Then the rest of the construction is modeled after the golden row. The process of engineering the golden row can be like solving a puzzle, and the entire process is more efficient with experience and the right tools.

Our team of specialists, for example, joins installers in the field to work on the golden row, bringing an assortment of clips and ties to figure out how to design the best management system for the cable leads they are running. Then we help develop the wire management systems.

These specialists can guide you to the best products for your solar arrays, and then we can supply them, saving you time and money.
