Laura-Mackie

Q. Welcome to Hubbell Laura, can you tell us a bit about your background?

A. Of course. I was at my previous company for 9 years. I started as an internal sales administrator and, as the company grew, I was able to employ a team around me. It was in the cash handling industry, so it was very different to the Harsh & Hazardous products I work with now.

Q. What drew you to Hubbell?

A. As a team leader in my previous role, I was ready to step up to a management role in a bigger, more exciting team. I wanted to apply my 10 years of sales experience to help the Hawke team flourish and serve the customer better. Hubbell offered the opportunity to work with a global, fast-paced team which really excited me!

Q. What do you like most about working at Hubbell?

A. The people. Everyone has been really friendly and helpful which has made settling in that bit easier! I also love the incredible opportunities for travel, personal development and much more that working for Hubbell offers.

Q. What do you like about sales?

A. The key tenets of sales stay the same wherever you go. My aim is always to serve the customer in the best way that I can. That’s why making the move from cash handling technology to hazardous area connection products was so simple. I can bring the knowledge I’ve accrued over my 10 years total experience in sales and apply it to Hubbell.

Q. What’s your favourite Hubbell product?

A. Definitely control stations, with so many configurable options every quote is different! I really enjoy using controlHUBB to support our customers in getting the best control system for their project too. It’s really fast and simple to use.

Q. What do you do in your spare time?

A. I spend my time with my family and friends walking or going to the pub. I also love going to the cinema.

Q. What advice would you give to someone starting out in a sales career?

A. Be strong. Have conviction and confidence in your points and don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in.
