Recently celebrating 25 years with Chalmit, John McLaren from our Quality team has seen the company expand and change whilst undertaking considerable career development. Alongside many personal achievements, there have been growth opportunities and promotions along the way.
“Over the years I have experienced a lot of changes due to the continuous improvement environment, the acquisition the Victor brand and integration of Hadar products into the Chalmit range”.
John’s current role is to supervise the day to day running of the Quality lab, supporting all operations of the team. After originally joining the company in 1994 as an assembly operator, several years later he moved into the Quality team to the position of Inspector. His most recent career development was a promotion to the position of Quality Lab Supervisor.
This illustrious career within the team is testament to his considerable skill, expertise and overall dedication to all operations and functions within the Quality department. Originally working in Assembly established the highest level of product knowledge, accuracy and attention to detail, an invaluable skill set now used at the center of our integral Quality operations.
John’s experience within the team was recently embellished with the completion of a Level 2 Certificate in Leadership and Management, awarded by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

In his spare time John is a keen golfer: “I spend most weekends losing good quality golf balls on Scotland’s golf courses!”
At Chalmit, and within the wider Hubbell family, the wealth of experience John has accumulated throughout his 25 year career is integral to everything we do.
