New technology prevents nuisance tripping with new Hubbell Industrial and Hospital Grade GFCI receptacles

Facility managers experience less inconvenience and contractors experience fewer callbacks with new Extra Heavy-Duty Industrial and Hospital Grade Ground Fault Receptacles from Hubbell Wiring Device-Kellems.

These GFCI receptacles feature patented Autoguard® self-test technology, updated with exclusive new Closed Loop Active Detection (CLAD). The CLAD circuitry utilizes a state-of-the-art microcontroller to identify and isolate true ground fault conditions from transient events, harmonics, and other anomalous building noise.

Today's advanced new building environments take advantage of decades of energy efficient developments. Energy efficient motor control, LED lighting controls and expansive wireless communication systems can create electrical interference that may lead to false tripping GFCIs. This can happen even to GFCIs with nothing is plugged in! AutoGuard CLAD technology eliminates possible inoperability.

The CLAD GFCIs also feature an attractive new look. A single rectangular LED indicator visually displays the device’s ability to provide protection: green indicates power, red indicates a trip, or flashing red indicates end of life. Redesigned test and reset buttons provide a flush look and feel to the face of the receptacle.

Hubbell’s patented tamper-resistant (TR) mechanism limits improper access to energized contacts yet allows for smooth plug engagement. The TR shutters are white for visual confirmation that the device is functioning properly.

Extra heavy-duty industrial ground fault receptacles feature a corrosion-resistant design for best-in-class performance, protecting critical components from moisture. Internal and exposed parts are nickel plated, and a selective conformal coating is applied to critical components and tracks on the printed circuit board (PCB). Terminal and mounting screws are stainless steel. Tamper and weather resistance are standard in the Industrial receptacles.

These industrial ground fault receptacles are designed for challenging and harsh applications such as manufacturing facilities, laboratories, hospitals, garages, mobile power applications, and wastewater treatment plants.

Hospital grade ground fault receptacles are available in both terminal and SNAPConnect® versions. For indoor applications, GFCIs with AutoGuard CLAD technology are available with TR shutters. Tamper-resistant/weather-resistant listed models are available for outdoor use.
